Enamoured, engaged, married? Love rarely makes it that simple – and that is why it is so thrilling. That not all amorous couples are the same is the subject of the opera Les Indes galantes by Jean-Philippe Rameau. With tender melodies, sultry chords and spirited dances, the French composer explores the greatest of human emotions. The Ensemble NeoBarock will perform excerpts of the work along with video: Michael Sommer, creator of the video channel “Sommer’s World Literature to go”, has re-enacted the plot with Playmobil figures. In four stories, audiences young and old follow the trials and tribulations of love around the world – and encounter tough princesses, lovelorn fighters and loyal souls.
